The Beckham family were seen fling out of LAX on their way to England.
David will be taking part in the Olympic closing handover ceremony in Beijing, China.
According to press reports, the 33-year-old LA Galaxy star is expected to arrive on top of a red double-decker bus - a trademark London transport - and will then kick a football into the crowd to celebrate.
Also on tap, the ceremony will see former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page performing a duet with pop star Leona Lewis.
David is also part of the England squad for the match against Czech Republic.

David took Gordon Ramsay and his son, Jack, on a personal tour of the David Beckham Academy and the Home Depot Center where the LA Galaxy were training. Jack is enrolled at the Academy and wore the blue 'DBA' kit while Gordon and Beckham chatted together. The two families have been spending a lot of time together during the summer and dined together only days ago. Beckham looked like the LA heat was getting to him after finishing a two hour training session and was accompanied by a publicist, but he still had time to show his friend around

With the Spice Girls successful reunion tour wrapped up and the launch of her children's book series under her belt, Geri Halliwell has been enjoying a well-earned break with daughter Bluebell at the beautiful Mexican resort of Las Alamandas. And the 35-year-old beauty invited hi! magazine along to share in the experience.
This week's issue, number 1034, contains stunning pictures of the flame-haired star and her two-year-old in the dreamy location as well as an exclusive interview in which Geri tells all about her love life and body image.
The fabulous shots - Geri's first bikini shoot in seven years - show she's looking better than ever. She does admit, however, that despite her enviable figure, she has the same hang ups as many women. "People think I'm really confident but I do get self-conscious like many women about stripping off in public," she says.

Kids in America have voted David Beckhamtheir No1 sports idol just a year after he arrived to woo them. Nearly two out of three chose the LA Galaxy star as best athlete of 2008, ahead of national heroes including basketball ace Kobe Bryant and golfer Tiger Woods.
