David Beckham admits he’s not spoken to Stuart Pearce about selection for Team GB’s Olympic football team.
The LA Galaxy star is widely tipped to be one of three over-age players in Pearce’s squad for the Games in what many people will view as a fitting farewell for the former Three Lions skipper on home soil.
Beckham, however, is taking nothing for granted and admits he has no idea if he will be picked for the squad.
He said: “I’ve not spoken to him [Pearce]. There’s no need to speak to him yet.
“I’ll find out at some point whether I’m involved or not and what the team will be.
“It’s an exciting time for our country. To have the Olympic Games is special, particularly in that part of London.”
