Emma Bunton is the latest to join the sofa wars at GMTV after signing up with fiance Jade Jones.

Bosses persuaded the Dancing On Ice judge and the ex Damage singer to come on board to spice up the show.

The couple will cover Lorraine Kelly’s holiday for a week with Emma interviewing stars and chef Jade in the kitchen.

The pair have been called the new Fern and Phil after chef Phil Vickery and wife Fern Britton, who appeared together on This Morning.

A source said: “It is a massive coup getting Emma and Jade. If the chemistry between them is good they could be the next Fern and Phil.”

GMTV is facing a radical overhaul with most presenters fearful for their jobs.

But insiders say Lorraine’s slot is not facing the axe. During her stint former Spice Girl Emma will interview big US stars like Tom Cruise and Will.I.am.

Jade – who trained as a chef after quitting music and has worked at Claridges – will cook for guests including Gabriella Cilmi and Craig David.

It is the first time the long term couple, who have a son Beau, two, have worked together on live TV.

Pictures: May 24th – LA – Victoria at the LG Fashion Touch event at Soho House

Beckham and Longoria were hosting the bash at Soho House, which was billed as ‘a night of fashion and technology’.

Longoria and Beckham managed to draw a host of Hollywood stars to the party, including Jessica Simpson, Vanessa Hudgens, Selma Blair and Twilight star Anna Kendrick.

Simpson, who attended with her younger sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, squeezed her curvy figure into a very tight black and grey jersey mini from the Spring/Summer 2010 Beckham collection.
90210 actress Jessica Stroup and Mad Men star January Jones looked remarkably similar as they both arrived in white mini-dresses.

Beckham and Longoria recently starred in an advertising campaign for the new Fashion Touch phones, with the two models reflecting their personalities.

The Lotus Elite is ‘bold and edgy’ like Beckham, while the Rumor Touch is ‘sleek and classical’ like Longoria.

Pictures: May 22nd – Afghanistan‎ – David visits British Troops

David Beckham today paid tribute to fallen British soldiers during his morale-boosting visit to Afghanistan. The former England captain stood silently with his head bowed before the Camp Bastion memorial dedicated to those who have given their lives for their country as a Union flag flew at half mast. During a trip which he described as ‘humbling’ and ‘emotional’, the footballer took time to read the full names engraved on brass plaques of members of the UK Armed Forces who have fallen in service.

During a memorial on the second day of his trip to Helmand Province, the 35-year-old paid his respects and told the soldiers it had been ‘one of my best experiences of my whole life, to actually be here, to see first hand what you all go through. ‘You have to leave your families, your friends, your loved ones, your kids, that must be hard.’ He also spoke of his admiration for the comradeship among the troops.

He said: ‘I’ve represented my country on the field, and I’ve got great team mates and great friends, but every now and again I can let my team mates down on the field. You out here, you have to trust your friends, trust the people that you are next to, and your team mates, you don’t get another chance. I have huge admiration for everything that you do, everything that you believe in, and everything that you are doing for our country; it’s a real honour for me to be here.’ The LA Galaxy player also gave a radio interview with the British Forces Broadcasting Service, and said he had wanted to visit troops in Afghanistan for a number of years and it was a ‘privilege’ to finally do so.

He said: ‘I’ve never met so many patriotic people in my life. To shake hands, hear their stories and hear how much they are missing their families… it’s very emotional. ‘They are fighting, putting their lives on the line, it’s really something they are so passionate about, it’s humbling.’ Beckham also gave a glimpse into his own family life in Los Angeles with his wife Victoria and three sporty sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, seven and Cruz, five.
He joked living in the sun-soaked city was ‘terrible’.

He also revealed he stored his wife’s number in his phone under her Spice Girl nickname ‘Posh’. And, although the soldiers may have guessed from his outings in a sarong, he admitted that he is in touch with his feminine side and added that he enjoyed romantic comedies. ‘I am a bit of a chick flick person, I get very emotional. I was on a flight the other day from Los Angeles to London, watching the film I was tearing up.’

Despite poor DIY skills, he said cooking was a ‘real passion’ and he could clean and iron around the house. He added his sons were ‘all showing a little bit of promise’ with their footballing skills, but he would support them in whichever field they chose to pursue. He also described the lengths the family sometimes went to, to escape the paparazzi glare, revealing he and his sons recently crawled ‘proper military style’ along a wall to evade attention.

And Beckham backed England to win the World Cup, stating: ‘I really believe they have got a chance.’

Earlier today the footballer met senior officers during breakfast, including Deputy National Contingency Commander of British Forces, Brigadier Angus Fay, who said: ‘I think it’s been fantastic for the British forces that he has shown so much interest in the work we are doing. He is such an iconic figure to everyone of all ages and background. His effect on the morale has been phenomenal and we are very grateful for his commitment to us Morale is through the roof – the whole place is buzzing.’

He told BFBS: British Forces News: ‘To see the morale of the troops is really incredible. It first kind of hit me on the way over when we were on the military plane flying in to Afghanistan. ‘You can see the faces, you can see obviously they know they are leaving their families, but they’re so focused and they’ve got this look in their eyes that they’re just so confident and just ready.

‘That really is an unbelievable sight to see, and you feel it as well.’

Beckham started his day on Saturday with full English breakfast in the cookhouse before taking part in a question and answer session with troops, signing autographs and visiting the camp’s hospital.

Squadron Leader Sarah Charters, who runs the emergency unit at the hospital, told him about the work they do. She said: “A visit like this means a lot to everyone here.” ‘It is an absolute honour to work in an environment like this where I know I am contributing to help save lives and David’s visit reminds everyone at home of what we actually do here.’

Beckham also received a lesson in weapon handling from Craftsman Bob Floy, from Doncaster, who showed him how to use different weapons including a heavy machine gun.

With temperatures in the camp reaching 45C (113F), the star then visited the HQ of 40 Commando where he joined senior officers cooling off their feet in a paddling pool. He also visited 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles and took part in a penalty challenge with them, and scored with his only attempt. He said: ‘Just yesterday one of the troops was killed, and you feel it and you see the flags at half-mast and you feel the tension there. It really is, like I said, amazing to be around but you feel the love from everybody.

‘It just really is scary work. These guys are the bravest people that I’ve ever met and it really is, it truly is, an honour to be here.’

David Beckham has paid tribute to the “amazing” work of British troops in Afghanistan during a visit to the country.

The footballer posed for pictures and signed autographs for troops in Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, where around 9,000 British soldiers are based.

In an interview with BFBS: British Forces News, he said: “You know I’ve been here just one night so far and the experience has been even more than I could have ever hoped.

“To see the morale of the troops is really incredible. It first kind of hit me on the way over when we were on the military plane flying in to Afghanistan. You can see the faces, you can see obviously they know they are leaving their families, but they’re so focused and they’ve got this look in their eyes that they’re just so confident and just ready. Mel B is coming to The Style Network in a new reality show this fall.

The network has ordered 10 episodes of a half-hour series with the working title “The Mel B Project” that will feature “Dancing with the Stars” alumn “Scary Spice,” her husband Stephen and her two daughters from previous relationships. The docu-comedy is set to debut Labor Day weekend.

“From party girl ‘Scary Spice’ to the ultimate new millennium mom, the British beauty is now all grown up, but her famous no-holds-barred approach to life remains the same as she combines 24/7 chaos, from live shows to acting gigs, with her life as wife and mom,” Style said in a show description.

“Mel B is confident, hilarious and outrageously entertaining,” said Salaam Coleman Smith, president of The Style Network. “Style is all about transformations, and we love that Mel has evolved her image and sought new challenges throughout her career while also taking on the ups, downs and everything in between that come with motherhood and marriage.”

The “Union Jack Dress” worn by the former Ginger Spice, Geri Halliwell, has topped a new poll to find the 10 Most Iconic Dresses of the last 50 years.

Halliwell, who wore the dress to the Brit Awards in 1997, captured 82% of the votes, narrowly edging out the runner-up, Liz Hurley and that dress (the Gianni Versace safety pin design), which the actress unveiled in 1994 at the London premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The white halter-neck dress, which Marilyn Monroe wore in The Seven Year Itch – famously blowing up to her waist as she stood over a subway vent – polled third, ahead of Audrey Hepburn’s Little Black Dress and pearls, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Other iconic ‘outfits’ included Kylie Minogue’s gold hot pants, worn in the Spinning Around video, 2000, and the “swan” dress, designed by Marjan Pejoski, which Björk wore to the 2001 Oscars. The poll was conducted by the online fashion retailer, offerssupermarket.co.uk.

Eve Atkins, founder of OffersSupermarket, said: “Everybody remembers the moment Geri Halliwell hit the stage in that Union Jack dress. It made everybody watching the Brit Awards feel patriotic, plus she looked amazing. I was shocked to realise it was simply a tea towel sewn on to a basic dress, with no designer involved.”

The Top 10 most iconic dresses of the past 50 years:

1. Geri Halliwell – Union Jack dress – 82%

2. Liz Hurley – Versace safety pin dress – 79%

3. Marilyn Monroe – White dress – 74%

4. Audrey Hepburn – Black dress and pearls in Breakfast at Tiffany’s – 67%

5. Lady Gaga – White outfit and wig worn to the Brit Awards – 63%

6. Diana, Princess of Wales – Wedding dress designed by The Emanuel’s – 58%

7. Kylie Minogue – Gold hot pants – 56%

8. Jennifer Lopez – Sheer green Versace dress worn to the Grammys – 53%

9. Björk – Swan dress worn to the Oscars – 49%

10. Cindy Crawford: Red Versace dress worn to the Oscars – 44%

Melanie C will play Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers at the Liverpool Empire.

The November shows will be the only performances outside the West End for the 36-year-old former Spice Girl.

Today’s news marked the second Liverpool “homecoming” due this autumn following Sex In The City star Kim Cattrall’s announcement she is to appear as Cleopatra at the Playhouse.

Melanie said: “I had such an incredible time playing the role of Mrs Johnstone in the West End.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to play her again in my home town at the Empire.”

The singer won acclaim for her performance as Willy Russell’s musical matriarch after joining the cast of the London show in October last year.

She was shortlisted for a prestigious Olivier Award for best actress in a musical or entertainment category.

Mrs Johnstone marked the mum-of-one’s stage debut following a successful recording career with The Spice Girls and as a solo artist.

Bill Kenwright, who is behind the show at London’s Phoenix theatre and is also bringing the production to the Empire from November 8-20, said: “From the second Melanie walked into my office, I knew she would make a great Mrs J. The reality exceeded the expectation and I instantly felt on her opening night in London she must play Blood Brothers in Liverpool.

“It is typical of her that she agreed instantly to do a two-week autumn stint in her home town.

“She is a real star and a credit to her city.”

Blood Brothers has already played at the Empire once this year, when Lyn Paul took the role of musicals’ most famous charlady in the production last month.

Tickets for Blood Brothers starring Melanie C go on sale on Monday May 24, priced at £16-£37.50.
